The Shadow Weaver escalates its attacks, testing Vladislaus's control and Katja's resolve. Their love is pushed to its limits by supernatural forces.
The fog, a shroud woven from the city’s breath and the damp exhale of the river, clung to me like a second skin. It was a familiar cloak, one I had worn for centuries, yet tonight, it felt more like a cage. Each tendril, each swirling eddy, seemed to whisper of a threat that had finally shed its ethereal disguise and begun to bleed into the tangible world. The Shadow Weaver. The name itself was a curse, a promise of unraveling, of undoing. And it had turned its malevolent attention to us, to her.
Katja. Even the thought of her name sent a tremor through the ancient stillness of my being. She was the antithesis of the darkness that had defined my existence, a fragile, incandescent bloom in a garden of thorns. And now, the thorns were sharpening, their barbs coated in a venom far older than my own.
Mihail’s words, usually a pragmatic drone, had been laced with a genuine fear I rarely heard from him. “It’s not just whispers anymore, Vladislaus. The currents are shifting. The old ways are being disturbed.” He’d paced the confines of my study, his shadow a frantic dance against the lamplit walls, his hands clenching and unclenching as if wrestling with an unseen foe. “They sense you. They sense her. And they do not approve.”
