The Kuwaiti desert stretched out before them, an endless expanse of shimmering heat and shifting sands. The sun beat down with relentless fury, baking the land and the men who dared to traverse it. Inside the armored personnel carrier, the air was thick with the smell of sweat, diesel, and the metallic tang of fear. Colonel Jack ‘Maverick’ Stone, his face etched with the grim determination of a man who had seen too much, scanned the horizon through the reinforced viewport. Beside him, Agent Anya Sharma, her eyes sharp and intelligent, meticulously reviewed the drone feed on her tablet. Sergeant Major ‘Bulldog’ Riley, a mountain of a man with arms like oak branches, checked the firing mechanisms of his heavy machine gun, his movements economical and precise.

“Anything, Anya?” Stone’s voice was a low rumble, barely audible over the engine’s roar.

Anya shook her head, her brow furrowed. “Still nothing concrete, Colonel. The thermal signatures are scattered, consistent with a small, mobile camp, but no clear patterns. It’s almost as if they’re expecting us.”
