The air in the makeshift interrogation room hung thick and stale, a miasma of sweat, fear, and the metallic tang of blood. Dust motes danced in the single beam of light slicing through the grimy window, illuminating the taut faces of Colonel Jack Stone and Agent Anya Sharma. Opposite them, slumped in a reinforced chair, was Tariq, a mid-level operative for Al-Fahad’s network, his left arm bandaged crudely, his eyes bloodshot and vacant. Sergeant Major Riley stood by the door, a silent, imposing sentinel, his hand resting casually on the butt of his sidearm.

“We’ve been through this, Tariq,” Stone’s voice was a low rumble, devoid of emotion, yet laced with an undeniable authority. He leaned forward, his gaze unwavering. “You know what we can do. We can make this very… uncomfortable. Or, you can give us what we need, and this can all be over.”

Tariq flinched at the subtle threat, his breath hitching. He’d seen what Riley could do, and Stone’s quiet intensity was far more terrifying than any outward display of aggression. He was a man who knew precisely how to inflict pain, both physical and psychological.
