The air, thick and humming with an unseen energy, parted before me like a silken curtain. The Guardian’s imposing form, a silhouette against a sky I could no longer discern, receded with a sigh that sounded like wind through ancient trees. I’d expected… more. A dazzling city, perhaps, or a verdant paradise described in hushed tones by the hermit, Elara. Instead, I found myself standing on a path, not of stone or earth, but woven from light itself, shimmering with hues I’d never witnessed. It stretched out before me, vanishing into a gentle haze.

A peculiar warmth spread through my chest, a sensation utterly alien yet profoundly comforting. It wasn’t the triumphant surge of victory, but something softer, a quiet unfurling. The weight of my loneliness, a constant companion since I could remember, felt lighter, as if it had been shed along with the fear that had clutched me on the other side of the Guardian’s trial. I took a tentative step onto the luminous path, my worn boots making no sound.

The haze ahead began to coalesce, not into structures, but into shapes, fluid and ever-changing. Figures emerged, not with the sharp edges of reality, but with a gentle, dreamlike quality. They moved with a grace that suggested an intimate understanding of their surroundings, their forms sometimes solid, sometimes appearing as mere impressions of light and color. Laughter, clear and melodic, drifted on the air, not a boisterous roar, but a symphony of contented murmurs.
