Rihanna, weak but resolute, works on her final poems. She shares her collection with Ife and Kella, entrusting them with her literary legacy.
The afternoon sun, a pale imitation of its summer fierceness, slanted through the window, casting long, gentle shadows across Rihanna’s room. It illuminated the dust motes dancing in the quiet air, each one a tiny, fleeting testament to the passage of time. Rihanna, propped against a mountain of pillows, her breathing a shallow, deliberate affair, held a worn notebook in her hands. The pages were filled with her looping script, a testament to countless hours spent weaving words into tapestries of emotion. Her fingers, thin and almost translucent, traced the lines of a poem, her lips moving silently as she reread the verses.
A soft knock at the door preceded the entrance of Ife and Kella. Ife carried a small bag, its contents a mystery, while Kella’s hands were clasped loosely in front of her, her gaze filled with the familiar blend of concern and affection. They moved with a practiced quietness, their steps hushed on the carpet, as if afraid to disturb the fragile peace that had settled over Rihanna.
“Hey,” Kella whispered, her voice a soft melody. She approached the bed, her smile a warm beacon. “How are you feeling today, Ri?”
