Chapter 5
A Glimpse of the Extraordinary
During a lively school festival, a strange energy surges. Elara and Calix find themselves at the epicenter, experiencing an event that defies logic and hints at hidden powers.
The air thrummed with an infectious energy, a vibrant tapestry woven from the excited chatter of students, the enticing aroma of street food, and the infectious beat of music spilling from makeshift stages. Elara Armstrong, for all her initial apprehension about a new school, found herself swept up in the joyous chaos of the university’s annual festival. Brightly colored streamers fluttered overhead, catching the afternoon sun, and stalls overflowed with artisanal crafts, tempting snacks, and games that promised laughter and prizes. She clutched a cup of sweet, creamy halo-halo, its icy sweetness a welcome contrast to the humid air, and let her eyes wander over the bustling scene. She was trying to navigate a particularly dense knot of students gathered around a stage where a band was belting out a catchy OPM tune when it happened. A sudden surge from the crowd, a collective gasp of delight at something happening on stage, pushed her forward. She stumbled, her halo-halo threatening to slosh over the rim. And then, she collided with someone.
It wasn’t a gentle bump. It was a solid, almost jarring impact that sent a ripple of surprise through her. Her halo-halo, alas, didn’t survive the encounter. A sticky, sweet cascade splattered onto the paved walkway, a miniature disaster that Elara could only stare at with a sigh.
