Tears and Promises

Devastated, Amy confronts Leo with the news. She fears losing their connection. Leo reassures her, vowing to find a way to keep their friendship alive.

The world, once so vibrant and alive, had suddenly drained of all its color. Amy stood frozen in her bedroom, the words her mother had spoken echoing in the hollow space where her heart used to be. *“You need to go to school today, honey. It might be your last.”* Moving. Tomorrow. The boxes stacked in the hallway, the hushed phone calls, the hurried packing – it had all slipped from her mind like sand through her fingers, lost in the shimmering glow of Leo’s presence.

Tears welled in her eyes, hot and sharp, blurring the familiar posters on her wall, the worn edges of her favorite books, and the very air she breathed. She looked towards the mirror, the portal that had brought Leo into her life, half expecting to see it dark and ordinary, a cruel reminder of what she was about to lose. But it still held a faint, ethereal luminescence, a promise of the boy who understood her better than anyone.

“Leo?” she whispered, her voice cracking.
