Chapter 5
Hunted by Shadows
A clandestine organization learns of the twins' existence and begins a relentless pursuit. Elara and Lilith are forced to confront danger and consider an unlikely alliance.
The air in Elara’s small cottage, usually a haven of simmering herbs and the comforting scent of aged parchment, had turned brittle. Protect them from what? And from whom? The fragmented visions, fleeting and disorienting, offered no concrete answers, only a kaleidoscope of fear and the chilling sensation of fractured light.
A sudden gust of wind rattled the shutters, sending a flock of startled birds scattering from the ancient oak outside. Elara’s heart leaped into her throat. It wasn’t just the wind; it was a prelude. A low, guttural sound, like stones grinding together, emanated from the edge of the woods bordering her cottage. It was a sound that belonged to something ancient and hungry.
