It was fractured by the tempest brewing within her. The demon. The word itself tasted like ash on her tongue, a label that felt both damning and, disturbingly, true.

She traced the intricate patterns etched into the obsidian floor, her claws extending instinctively, then retracting with a sharp, controlled movement. Each flicker of her inner inferno threatened to consume the carefully constructed calm. She saw it, sometimes, in the periphery of her vision – a searing crimson light, a hunger that gnawed at her very soul. It was a constant, suffocating presence, a beast chained within, yet always straining against its bonds.

Her mother’s face, a distant, hazy memory, would sometimes swim into focus, her eyes filled with a sorrow so profound it could drown Lilith. *“Be strong, my little flame,”* she’d whispered, a phantom echo in the quiet of the sanctuary. But what did strength mean when the very core of her being was a firestorm? What did it mean to be strong when her nature was inherently destructive?
