Homer, ever the sentinel, placed a hand on Aethelred’s shoulder, his touch a steady anchor in the encroaching despair.
“This is it, Aethelred,” Homer’s voice, usually a low rumble, was now a hushed reverence. “The heart of the corruption. Where the echoes of forgotten heroes wither and die.”
