Chapter 8
A Love Found
Kaelen and Aurelia find peace in a hidden village. They build a simple, joyful life together, their true love finally free, proving that destiny can be rewritten.
The scent of pine and damp earth was a balm to Sir Kaelen’s soul, a stark, welcome contrast to the perfumed, stifling air of the royal court. They had traveled for days, their horses weary but their spirits alight, guided by an instinct to simply go, to escape the gilded cage they had left behind. The world they had known, with its rigid rules and suffocating expectations, felt a lifetime away.
They found it by chance, a small cluster of cottages nestled in a valley so verdant it seemed to hum with life. A gentle river, clear and cool, wound its way through the heart of the village, its murmur a constant, soothing melody. Smoke curled lazily from stone chimneys, carrying the comforting aroma of woodsmoke and baking bread. Children’s laughter, unburdened and pure, echoed through the trees. It was a place untouched by the machinations of kings and dukes, a sanctuary where a knight and a princess could simply be Kaelen and Aurelia.
Kaelen, ever the protector, found them a small, sturdy cottage at the edge of the village, overlooking a meadow carpeted with wildflowers. It was humble, with a thatched roof and a hearth that promised warmth, but to them, it was a palace. Aurelia, her eyes shining with a joy he had only ever glimpsed in fleeting moments, ran her hand over the rough-hewn wooden table. “It’s perfect, Kaelen,” she whispered, her voice thick with emotion.
