Chapter 4

Galactic Gear Up

Jamma, with an impressive command of Earth slang that's both hilarious and slightly unnerving, explains that all the necessary equipment and an infinite library of alien sounds will be provided. The duo is led to a vast hangar filled with futuristic DJ booths, consoles that pulse with unknown energy, and speakers that seem to hum with the very fabric of space. Ericka, her initial fear giving way to her inherent curiosity and ambition, runs a hand over a sleek, glowing turntable. 'So, like, this is our new setup? This is insane!' Bebe, ever the pragmatist, eyes the alien gear. 'Can we even figure this stuff out? We went from rocking clubs to saving the planet. This is a whole new level of pressure, E.'

Jamma’s slick, iridescent skin shimmered under the ship’s ambient glow as they gestured with a multi-jointed limb toward a cavernous space that unfolded before Ericka and Bebe. It wasn't just a room; it was a cathedral of sound, a temple built for the deities of rhythm and bass. Gleaming consoles, more sculpture than machinery, pulsed with an inner light, their surfaces smooth as polished obsidian and cool to the touch. Turntables, suspended by unseen forces, rotated slowly, their platters etched with patterns that seemed to shift and reform with every revolution. Her initial terror, a cold knot in her stomach just moments ago, had begun to unravel, replaced by the familiar spark of her insatiable curiosity. She ran a hand over the cool, smooth surface of a turntable, feeling a faint vibration beneath her fingertips. “This is insane! Like, totally bonkers, dude.”

Bebe, ever the grounded one, eyed the alien contraptions with a healthy dose of skepticism. Her brow was furrowed, her gaze sharp as she scanned the dizzying array of buttons, dials, and what looked suspiciously like pulsating orbs. “Can we even figure this stuff out, E?” she asked, her voice laced with a hint of worry. “We went from rocking clubs to saving the planet. This is a whole new level of pressure, for real.”
