Chapter 5
The Double Surprise
Tk and Rhyme decide to meet. Tk has the gift, Rhyme has the outing idea. In a funny, flustered moment, they both try to give their surprise at the exact same time, revealing their hidden feelings through their actions.
The park buzzed with the gentle hum of late afternoon. Sunlight dappled through the leaves, painting shifting patterns on the grass. They held a worn map, tracing lines with a finger, and a small picnic basket sat near their feet. I’d suggested meeting up to just… hang out. A casual, no-pressure kind of thing. But I knew, and I suspected Rhyme knew too, that this was more than just hanging out. This was the culmination of weeks of nervous planning and secret hopes.
“Hey!” I managed, trying to sound breezy and failing spectacularly. My voice squeaked. Fantastic.
