Gizmo’s optical sensors whirred, scanning the colossal, deactivated form of the Ancient Guardian. It lay sprawled amongst the moss-covered roots of an ancient oak, its metallic shell pitted and scarred by centuries of weather and neglect. Sparky hovered nearby, his own lights blinking with a mixture of concern and anticipation. Bolt, ever the protector, stood guard, his heavy treads churning the soft earth, his broad chassis a reassuring presence.

“This is… more complex than I anticipated,” Gizmo murmured, her voice a low hum of concentration. She extended a slender manipulator arm, its tip equipped with a microscopic scanner, and traced a faint, almost invisible crack along the Guardian’s central power conduit. “The primary energy core is severely depleted. Not just low, but fundamentally destabilized. It’s leaking chroniton particles at an alarming rate.”

Sparky tilted his head. “Chroniton particles? Are those… bad?”
