Guardians of the Components
They encounter natural obstacles and perhaps some of the forest's curious inhabitants guarding the location of the components.
The air in the Whispering Woods grew thick with an ancient scent, a mix of damp earth and something else, something metallic and forgotten. Sunlight, dappled and shy, struggled to pierce the dense canopy above, casting shifting patterns on the moss-covered ground. Sparky, his optical sensors whirring with a mixture of excitement and apprehension, led the way. Behind him, Gizmo’s analytical processors hummed a steady tune of caution, while Bolt’s sturdy treads crunched softly on fallen leaves, his metallic frame radiating a quiet strength.
“The signal is stronger now,” Sparky announced, his voice a bright chirp against the hushed symphony of the forest. “It’s coming from just beyond that cluster of glow-moss!” He pointed a slender manipulator arm towards a patch of luminescent fungi that pulsed with an ethereal green light.
Gizmo adjusted her optical lenses, zooming in on the area. “My readings indicate a significant concentration of unusual energy signatures. Not natural. Definitely… manufactured.” She paused, a flicker of concern crossing her metallic features. “And there are… fluctuations. Like something is trying to maintain stability, but failing.”
