Chapter 17
Tiggy's New Idea
During a break, Tiggy tells his friends about his naptime adventure and what Mama Tiger taught him. He explains why resting is important for playtime.
Tiggy bounded through the dappled sunlight, his paws barely touching the mossy ground. The air buzzed with the happy chatter of his friends. Monkey was swinging from a high branch, his long tail a blur of motion. Parrot, perched on a sturdy vine, was preening his magnificent emerald and sapphire feathers. Elephant, his great ears flapping gently, was enjoying a cool drink from the stream. Tiggy, still full of the morning’s boundless energy, skidded to a halt, his stripes rippling.
“That was the best race EVER!” Tiggy panted, his tongue lolling out. “Did you see how fast I was? I think I’m the fastest tiger in the whole jungle!”
Monkey chattered, his voice a little muffled by the branch he was clinging to. “You were fast, Tiggy! Almost as fast as my shadow!”
