Playmates Awake!

The jungle air hummed with a different kind of energy today. It was a bright, chirpy, ready-to-explore kind of energy, the kind that made Tiggy’s whiskers twitch with excitement. He’d woken up feeling like a bouncy spring, full of zoomies and giggles, and he was ready to find his friends for a grand adventure. He padded out from the cozy den, his orange fur gleaming in the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves.

“Miko!” he called, his voice a happy little cub roar. He scampered towards the tall trees where his best monkey friend, Miko, usually swung from vine to vine, chattering like a tiny furry whirlwind. But today, the branches were still. No Miko. Tiggy tilted his head, a little confused. He peeked up into the leafy canopy, his keen eyes scanning. Then, he saw him. Miko was curled up in a tight ball on a thick branch, his little hands tucked under his chin, fast asleep. His usually twitching tail was still, and a soft snore puffed from his little monkey nose.

“Miko?” Tiggy whispered, trotting closer. He nudged Miko’s foot gently with his nose. Miko stirred, let out a soft grunt, and burrowed deeper into his furry arms. He was definitely, completely, and utterly napping. Tiggy’s playful bounce deflated a little. He wanted to play tag, not watch Miko dream.
