Chapter 12
Sweet Tiger Dreams
Tiggy closes his eyes, feeling sleepy and content. He drifts off into a peaceful sleep, dreaming of exciting adventures he'll have when he wakes up.
Tiggy’s eyelids felt heavy, like little velvet curtains wanting to close. Mama Tiger’s warm fur was a soft blanket around him, and her purr was a gentle rumble that vibrated right through his sleepy little body. He snuggled closer, burying his nose in her side. It smelled like sunshine and warm earth, the best smell in the whole jungle. He could still hear the rustling leaves, the chirping crickets, and Mama’s steady breathing. Everything was quiet and safe.
He thought about all the fun he would have when he woke up. He’d race through the tall grass, his stripes a blur against the green. He’d chase butterflies with wings like stained glass, their colors flashing in the dappled sunlight. Maybe he’d even find a juicy mango, its sweetness bursting in his mouth. He imagined himself leaping over fallen logs, his paws landing with a soft thud, and pouncing on imaginary prey, a fierce little hunter. The jungle would be full of life, full of his friends, full of exciting adventures waiting just for him.
A tiny smile flickered across Tiggy’s face. He could almost feel the wind in his fur as he ran, the thrill of the chase making his heart beat faster. He saw Monkey Friend swinging from the highest branches, chattering and giggling. He pictured Parrot Friend perched on a bright flower, his feathers a rainbow of colors, squawking a cheerful greeting. And Elephant Friend, his big, gentle eyes twinkling, would surely offer him a ride on his broad back. Yes, when he woke up, the jungle would be alive with play.
