The Hoarder's Hidden Treasure

With a bit of careful climbing and a lot of encouragement from Captain Zoomie, Russo and Baby Bear manage to get a closer look into Squeaky's nest. And there they are! The missing Valentine's cards, nestled amongst acorns, shiny bottle caps, and colorful scraps of fabric. Squeaky has been busy collecting, and the vibrant, heart-shaped cards have clearly caught her eye as perfect additions to her treasure trove. The pups gasp, realizing their Valentine's have been repurposed as nesting material by the industrious squirrel.

The towering oak tree loomed, its branches reaching like gnarled fingers towards the pale winter sky. Russo, his tail giving an anxious little flick, squinted upwards. “Are you sure, Baby Bear? That’s a mighty big climb.”

Baby Bear, ever the steady presence, nodded. “Captain Zoomie’s nose doesn’t lie, Russo. He was sniffing this way, and then he got all excited when he saw… well, that.” He gestured with a paw towards a particularly dense cluster of twigs and leaves high up in the oak.

Captain Zoomie, a blur of enthusiastic fur and wagging tail, barked an affirmative, then launched himself into a series of impressive, albeit short-lived, leaps. He landed with a happy yip, looking expectantly at the two pups. He’d been the one to lead them this far, his keen nose twitching, his little legs a whirlwind of motion, all the while emitting excited yips and whines that clearly translated to “This way! This way!”
