The silence of the Pinewood Forest, once a gentle whisper of rustling leaves, now pressed in on Tina and Eva, a heavy blanket woven from the threads of fear. Kitty was gone. The cheerful crackle of their campfire, the warmth that had chased away the evening chill, seemed to mock their sudden, icy dread.
