Evelyn led him down a narrow hallway he hadn't noticed before, past a door marked "Authorized Personnel Only," and up a flight of metal stairs that creaked under their feet. The hand that held his was warm, her grip steady, like she'd done this a hundred times and knew exactly where she was going.
"I found this place my second week here," she said, pushing open a heavy door at the top. "The building manager told me it was off-limits. I told him I'd fix the leaky faucet in his bathroom if he gave me a key."
"Did you fix it?"
