Chapter 6
Threads of Memory
The air in Elara’s cottage had grown heavy, thick with the scent of wilting petals and a sadness that clung to the very walls. Sunlight, once a cheerful guest, now struggled to pierce the gloom that had settled over her roses. Each drooping stem, each faded hue, was a tiny ache in Elara’s heart. Her fingers, usually nimble and sure as they coaxed vibrant emotions from petal dust, now trembled. The reds were muted, the yellows pale, the blues a bruised, uncertain shade. It was as if the very joy of her art had been leached away, leaving behind a dull ache.

It was a sorrow she didn’t understand, a melody of despair that seemed to hum just beneath the surface of her own thoughts.
A soft rustling drew her attention to the doorway. Elder Willow stood there, her bark creased like an ancient map, her leaves a shimmering curtain of emerald. She moved with a slow, deliberate grace, her roots seemingly anchored to the very earth. Her presence was always a balm, a quiet strength that Elara desperately needed.
