The air in the federation’s boardroom felt thick, heavy with the scent of polished mahogany and unspoken expectations. Sunlight, usually a cheerful visitor, seemed to struggle to penetrate the imposing windows, casting long, almost somber shadows across the vast table. Dr. Evelyn Reed, her twin-chassis prototype nestled carefully in its custom-made case, felt a familiar knot tighten in her stomach. This was it. The moment of truth. The culmination of countless late nights, frustrating setbacks, and the unwavering belief that the game she loved could, and should, be safer.

Across the table sat Mr. Bernard Hayes, a man whose reputation preceded him. He was the gatekeeper, the guardian of football’s rich, storied past. His face, etched with the lines of experience and a certain ingrained pragmatism, offered little in the way of encouragement. Beside him, a few other men, their faces impassive, represented the various committees and departments that governed the sport. Evelyn took a deep breath, her gaze meeting Mr. Hayes’s directly.

“Mr. Hayes, gentlemen,” she began, her voice steady, though a tremor of nervousness threatened to betray her. “Thank you for granting me this opportunity. I’m Dr. Evelyn Reed, and I’m here today to present an innovation that I believe could fundamentally change the way we approach player safety in football.”
