Dr. Evelyn Reed, her brow furrowed in concentration, watched the feed pipes with the intensity of a hawk. The captured CO2, a seemingly ethereal gas, was now coursing through a labyrinth of tubes, destined for a microbial bath that promised to perform a miracle.

Beside her, Dr. Jian Li meticulously logged readings from a series of sensors. His usual quiet diligence was amplified today, a nervous energy thrumming beneath his composed exterior. This is where we prove it." She gestured to a monitor displaying complex genetic sequences. "The engineered *Methanococcus voltae* strains are doing their job, pulling in that CO2 and, with the right nutrient mix, beginning the process of reduction."
