The air in the land of the dead hummed with a peculiar stillness, a silence that was not empty but pregnant with unspoken histories. William stood on the precipice of a decision, a choice that felt as vast and as irreversible as the shadowy chasm before him. His tailored waistcoat, once a symbol of his impending, suffocating future, now felt like an ill-fitting costume from a life he had outgrown.
