Chapter 6
Escalating Aggression
Fueled by Sora's whispers, Rosa's actions outside the gym become more impulsive. A confrontation with her bullies escalates beyond self-defense, leaving her shaken and Ji-woo concerned about her volatile reactions.
The fluorescent lights of the gym hummed, a constant, low thrum that had become the soundtrack to Rosa’s transformation. Sweat dripped from her brow, tracing paths through the chalk dust clinging to her skin. Each punch landed on the heavy bag was a release, a punctuation mark to the silent screams that had echoed in her mind for so long. Sora’s voice, a silken whisper in the back of her head, was a constant companion. "Stronger, Rosa. Don't let them break you. Make them feel it."
Rosa’s muscles ached, a satisfying burn that drowned out the phantom ache of her past bruises. She moved with a newfound grace, her body a weapon honed by relentless practice. The timid girl who flinched at every raised voice was fading, replaced by someone with a steely glint in her eyes and a coiled readiness in her stance.
Ji-woo watched from the sidelines, his brow furrowed. He’d seen Rosa blossom, her quiet reserve replaced by a vibrant confidence. But lately, something else had begun to surface. A darkness, a flicker of something untamed, that unnerved him. He’d seen her practice, her movements sharp and precise, but sometimes, in the heat of a sparring session, her eyes would glaze over, a predatory intensity replacing the focused determination.
