He entered the room, his gaze sweeping over her with a possessiveness that still made her skin crawl. She sat on the edge of the worn armchair, her hands clasped tightly in her lap, a practiced, neutral expression plastered on her face. The silence stretched, heavy with unspoken threats, until he finally broke it. "I will not have you today," he stated, his voice flat, devoid of the usual rough edge. A sliver of something akin to relief, quickly squashed, flickered within her. "Just prepare when I need it," he continued, his eyes narrowing slightly, a warning in their depth. "Do not disappoint me." He turned then, the click of the door closing behind him echoing in the stillness, leaving her alone with the chilling weight of his words and the ever-present awareness of her captivity.
