It was a sensation she’d become accustomed to in this bewildering world of Homancats, a constant undercurrent of the strange and the uncanny. But this was different. The crumbling stone walls, etched with symbols that had previously appeared as mere decorative carvings, now pulsed with a faint, internal luminescence.

Rousey, ever watchful, her emerald eyes narrowed, stood a few paces behind Emerald. Her tail gave a sharp flick against the moss-covered stones, a tell-tale sign of her unease.
