Chapter 10
A Glimpse of Magic
Kevin begins to understand that his drawings aren't just alive; they possess a unique magic. He grapples with this revelation, realizing the responsibility that comes with such a gift.
The air in our small cabin, usually thick with the scent of damp wool and salt, now held a faint, almost imperceptible shimmer. It was a feeling, more than a smell, like the moment before a storm breaks, but without the threat. Pip, my little sketch, was restless. He’d been restless all morning, his small, furry body vibrating with an energy I couldn’t quite place. He’d always been a creature of quiet observation, content to curl up near my sleeping mat, a silent sentinel in the dim light. Pip let out a soft chitter, a sound that was becoming increasingly familiar, yet still held a strange resonance. It wasn’t just a sound; it felt like a question, or perhaps a statement of fact that I was only just beginning to comprehend. He nudged my hand with his soft snout, his fur surprisingly warm against my skin. I looked down at him, at the way his fur seemed to catch the scant light, almost as if it held its own internal glow. This wasn't just ink on paper anymore. This was… more.
