Chapter 17
Chapter 17: The Fall into Light
The group falls into a vast underground chamber where the anchor's symbols are carved into the floor. Elias's wound pulses in sync, and the oldest one's voice echoes from above as the servant breaks through. Aena reveals a way to sever the anchor, but the cost is Elias's connection to the world. Lena refuses to let him do it alone, and together they activate the circle, redirecting the bridge. The chamber begins to collapse, and a new doorway opens in the stone, leading to an unknown place.

Then the light dropped away, and they hit solid ground.
Elias landed on his side, the impact jarring through his ribs. His wound flared, sending a spike of pain up his arm. He blinked, trying to make sense of what he was seeing. The chamber was enormous—a cathedral of rough stone, its ceiling lost in shadow. Pillars of rock rose at irregular intervals, their surfaces covered in the same glowing symbols that had spun on the floor above.
