Chapter 15: The Last Safe Place
Dee Jay drives the group to her fortified apartment, but the wound worsens as dawn nears. Lily senses Aena's location, leading them to an abandoned theater where a new threat awaits.
The sedan groaned as Dee Jay floored it, her knuckles white on the wheel. Streetlights blurred past, and in the rearview mirror, she could see Elias slumped against the seat, Lena's hand clamped around his. The wound in his palm glowed faintly, casting pale light across the back seat.
"Where are we going?" Lily asked, her voice thin.
Dee Jay's jaw tightened. She didn't have a plan. She had a dented car, a talking hole, and three people who looked at her like she knew what to do. She didn't.
