The new recipient wears the necklace, their eyes wide with wonder. Elara sees the same spark her Grandmother saw in her, the promise of faith and memory living on.
The smallest hands reached for the wooden beads, fingers tracing the smooth, worn surfaces with a reverence that mirrored Elara’s own when she’d first held them. Little Leo, barely five years old, his eyes wide pools of wonder, gently lifted the necklace from Elara’s outstretched palm. The weight of the familiar wood seemed to settle onto his small frame, a comforting embrace that Elara remembered so vividly from her own childhood. The sunlight, slanting through the window of the cozy sitting room, caught the polished beads, making them gleam with a soft, inner light, as if holding secrets just for him.
“Grandma Elara,” Leo whispered, his voice barely a breath, “they’re so… old.”
Elara smiled, a warmth spreading through her chest, a feeling so akin to the quiet joy her own grandmother had radiated. “They are, my darling,” she replied, her voice soft. “They are older than your mama, older than me, even older than my mama. They hold many, many stories, woven together like the threads of a beautiful tapestry.”
