Chapter 13
Seeds of Doubt, Roots of Faith
Elara encounters a young person struggling with similar doubts she once felt. She uses the necklace's stories to offer comfort and perspective, planting seeds of hope.
The late afternoon sun slanted through the kitchen window, painting warm stripes across the worn wooden table where Elara sat. Beside her, a young face, barely touched by the bloom of youth, was etched with a familiar furrow of worry. This was Jonas, a boy from the village, his eyes the color of a stormy sea, reflecting a turbulence Elara knew all too well. He’d come to her with a heart heavy with questions, the same questions that had once plagued her own young soul.
"It just... it doesn't feel real, Elara," Jonas confessed, his voice barely a whisper, as if the words themselves might shatter. He traced the grain of the table with a restless finger. "All this talk of faith, of strength... when things get hard, it feels like a story. Like something that happened to someone else, long ago."
Elara’s fingers instinctively went to the wooden beads nestled against her collarbone, their smooth surfaces a comforting presence. She remembered the sting of those very doubts, the gnawing feeling that her grandmother's gentle wisdom was a distant echo, unable to reach her in the thick of her own struggles. She remembered the weight of the necklace then, not as a comfort, but as a reminder of a strength she felt she could never attain.
