Chapter 6
Shattered Foundations
The betrayal rips through Elias's life. His career is jeopardized, his finances decimated, and his properties lost as Isabella's manipulation is fully exposed.
The silence in the penthouse was a physical weight, pressing down on me, muffling the sounds of the city that once sang a siren song of possibility. It was the silence that followed a cataclysm, the unnerving stillness after the earth has convulsed and rearranged itself into something unrecognizable. Isabella was gone. Not just out, not just at a late-night meeting with powerful clients, but *gone*. The scent of her expensive perfume, once a heady promise, now hung in the air like a shroud.

It can make us overlook shadows where they shouldn’t be.” I’d brushed him off, my heart stubbornly clinging to the vision of Isabella, the woman who had lit up my world, the woman I was building this empire for.
