Chapter 16
The Hidden Entrance
Following the final clues, they discover a camouflaged entrance, concealed by nature. It requires a combination of Corvus's keen eyes and the pups' sense of smell to find.
The wind, usually a boisterous companion, now carried a hushed reverence as it nudged Corvus forward. It had whispered secrets of moss-covered stones and the scent of pine needles, a language only he understood, guiding him through the dense, snow-laden forest. Behind him, the soft padding of paws broke the silence, a steady rhythm of hope and determination. Luna, Ragnar, and Willow followed, their breath pluming in the frigid air, their eyes wide with a shared anticipation. They had deciphered the last of the cryptic signs, the riddle of the ancient oak and the stream that sang a forgotten tune. Now, the wind’s whispers were more insistent, more urgent, pulling them towards a hidden place.
“It’s close,” Corvus murmured, his voice a low croak that barely disturbed the falling snow. He tilted his head, listening intently. The wind was a tapestry of sounds: the rustle of unseen creatures, the groan of ancient trees, and beneath it all, a faint, sweet scent, like sun-warmed earth and blooming wildflowers. It was a scent that didn't belong in this frozen world.
Luna, ever eager, nudged Ragnar’s flank with her nose. “Did you hear that, Ragnar? Corvus says it’s close!” Her tail gave a tentative thump against the snow.
