Chapter 8
Echoes of Magic
Back in their familiar surroundings, the children can still feel the wind's touch. They exchange knowing glances, bound by the magical secret they now share, a silent promise of future adventures.
The familiar green expanse of the park stretched before them, now bathed in the soft, fading light of late afternoon. Leo, Maya, and Sam stood where they had begun, their laughter a little quieter, their footsteps a touch lighter than before. The vibrant energy of their earlier games had been replaced by a gentle hum, a feeling that settled deep within their bones like the warmth of a sunbeam. The wind, the same wind that had coaxed them away from their swings and slides, had now brought them back, not with a rush, but with a slow, deliberate sigh.
Leo tilted his head, a faint smile playing on his lips. He could still feel it, a faint caress against his cheek, a whisper that wasn't quite sound but more like a thought brushing against his mind. It was the echo of secrets, of rustling leaves that had spoken more than just the names of trees. He glanced at Maya, whose eyes, usually bright with a thousand imagined stories, held a new depth, a quiet wonder. She clutched her worn notebook a little tighter, her fingers tracing the faint outline of a strange, swirling pattern on its cover. Even Sam, who always seemed to have one eye on the clock, was looking around with a dreamy sort of gaze, his usual practicality momentarily suspended.
"It's still here, isn't it?" Maya’s voice was barely above a whisper, as if afraid to break the spell.
