The sun, a warm, sleepy eye, began its slow descent, painting the sky in hues of apricot and rose. It was then that the wind, which had been their playful companion, seemed to shift its tune. It hadn't disappeared, not entirely, but its boisterous nudges softened into a tender caress, a gentle urging that felt like a sigh. Leo, who had been tracing the intricate patterns on a moss-covered stone, felt it first. It was a familiar touch now, but infused with a new kind of knowing, a quiet promise of return. He looked up, his gaze meeting Maya’s across the clearing. She held her worn notebook, its pages filled with the day’s wonders, her fingers hovering over a half-finished sketch of the glowing mushrooms. Sam, ever watchful, glanced at his watch, a habit born of his quiet fear of time slipping away, but even he couldn't deny the comforting presence that now enveloped them.

"It feels… different," Maya whispered, her voice barely disturbing the still air.

"Like it's telling us it's time," Sam added, his usual practicality tinged with a soft wonder. He still felt a flutter of unease at being so far from familiar paths, but the wind’s gentle hum seemed to soothe his anxieties.
