Chapter 11
The Scribe's Guidance
The scribe continues to mentor Khepri, emphasizing that true power lies not in dominion, but in connection. He helps Khepri understand that Isis's rise was born of a profound need, not just ambition.

Khepri sat cross-legged on a woven mat, the amulet cool against their skin, its faint, resonant hum a constant companion. Beside them, the scribe, his face a roadmap of gentle wrinkles, traced a hieroglyph with a reed pen.

A fire born from a whisper, yes, but a fire nonetheless. And fires, when left untended, can burn a great deal, even themselves.”
Khepri nodded, their brow furrowed in concentration. They had seen the playful flickers of magic that danced around their village since the amulet had found them – the flowers that bloomed in impossible colors overnight, the river that giggled with a new, silvery tune. These were not the fiery, overwhelming displays of power they imagined a goddess might wield. They were… kind.
