Valle Gris was a town built on silence, a place where the trees seemed to whisper secrets to the wind, and the fog that clung to the valley floor felt like a shroud. Its isolation was a deliberate choice, a bulwark against a world that had long forgotten it, or perhaps, a world it had chosen to forget. But even the most isolated places harbored their share of darkness, and Valle Gris was no exception. Its secret was a festering wound, hidden beneath layers of polite smiles and averted gazes, a truth that had been buried for years, only to claw its way back to the surface.

Sofía felt it in the air, a prickling sensation that had nothing to do with the damp chill of the autumn evening. It was a palpable tension, a collective holding of breath that permeated the town like the scent of pine and decaying leaves. The recent murders, brutal and inexplicable, had ripped through the fragile peace, exposing the rot beneath. Each victim found with a chillingly similar note: "Escuchaste los susurros." She saw Detective Morales’ patrol car parked outside Sheriff Brody’s office, its blue light pulsing in the gloom, a stark contrast to the muted tones of the town. Morales, a man of logic and order, seemed out of place here, a square peg in a round hole. He dismissed her claims of hearing voices, attributing them to stress, to grief, to the collective hysteria gripping Valle Gris. But Sofía knew what she heard. The whispers weren't a figment of her imagination. They were real, and they were calling to her.
