She had been turning it over and over, tracing the intricate carvings on each bead, feeling the weight of its history. “Grandmother,” Elara began, her voice soft, “you told me these beads hold stories. What kind of stories?”

Grandmother Elara’s eyes, the colour of warm honey, twinkled. She beckoned Elara closer. “Come, sit with me, my child.” Elara settled onto the rug at her grandmother’s feet, the scent of lavender and old books filling the air. “Each bead,” her grandmother began, her voice a low, melodic hum, “is a moment. A moment of joy, a moment of sorrow, a moment of quiet strength. They are the threads that weave the tapestry of our lives, and the lives of those who came before us.”
