Chapter 17
Echoes of the Past
The Younger Descendant wears the necklace, their eyes wide with wonder. The ancient wood begins to whisper its timeless tales to a new generation.
The little hands, still soft and uncalloused, traced the familiar curves of the wooden beads. Each one, worn smooth by generations of touch, felt like a tiny, silent story waiting to be unfurled. The Younger Descendant, whose name was still a melody yet to be fully sung, held the necklace in their lap, its weight a comforting presence against their small chest. Sunlight, dappled and warm, filtered through the leaves of the ancient oak tree outside, painting shifting patterns on the worn wooden floor. Elara nodded, her gaze soft. "It is old, little one. It is as old as the stories it carries. Each bead is a memory, a lesson, a whisper from the past." She gently picked up the necklace, letting the smooth wood slide through her fingers. "This bead here," she pointed to one with a particularly deep grain, "remembers the day my grandmother first showed it to me. She said it was like holding a piece of the forest, a piece of our family, in your hand."
