Chapter 15
The Circle Continues
Elara sees her own child, a Younger Descendant, showing curiosity about the necklace. She prepares to share its stories, just as her grandmother did.
The afternoon sun, a gentle, golden wash, filtered through the lace curtains, painting dappled patterns on the worn wooden floor. Elara sat by the window, her fingers tracing the smooth, cool surface of a bead on the necklace resting in her lap. It was the same necklace, the one her grandmother had placed in her small hands so many years ago, each bead a silent testament to journeys taken, lessons learned, and a faith that had weathered every storm. Now, it was her turn.
A small shadow fell across the pages of her book, and Elara looked up. Her child, with eyes as bright and curious as a robin’s, stood beside her, a faint frown creasing their brow. “Mama,” the child began, their voice a soft murmur, “what are those?” They pointed a tentative finger at the necklace.
A warmth spread through Elara’s chest, a feeling as familiar and comforting as the scent of her grandmother’s lavender sachets. She smiled, a deep, knowing smile. “These, my little one,” she said, her voice a gentle melody, “are stories. And strength. And remembrance.”
