The locket lay heavy in Elara’s palm, its tarnished silver cool against her skin. She’d turned it over and over, tracing the faint floral engraving that seemed to swirl and bloom beneath her fingertips, much like the patterns in her bedroom wallpaper. It felt ancient, steeped in a silence that spoke of forgotten tears and hushed promises. In the dim light filtering through her window, the locket seemed to pulse with a faint, inner glow, a subtle invitation to unravel its mystery.

Elara pressed harder, her nails scraping against the metal. A tiny imperfection, almost invisible, caught her eye. It wasn't a scratch, but a deliberate mark, a minuscule dot nestled within the swirling leaves. She leaned closer, her breath misting the locket’s surface.
