The air in the Cloud Village was as soft as a sigh, a constant gentle caress against Elara’s skin. Sunlight, filtered through an endless expanse of fluffy white, cast a pearly luminescence on everything. She stood at the edge of a vast, swirling expanse that shimmered and pulsed like a living thing. Before her lay the Shifting Maze, a labyrinth constructed not of stone or hedge, but of clouds themselves. They coalesced and dissolved, reformed and rearranged, their forms fluid and unpredictable. It was a breathtaking, and frankly, rather dizzying, sight.

A soft purr vibrated against her leg. Nimbus, a Cloud Cat with fur the colour of a twilight sky, nudged her hand with his head. His eyes, the shade of deep amethyst, held a knowing glint. “The Queen says the maze will test your focus, little one,” his voice, a melodic chime in her mind, was surprisingly clear. “It does not like stillness. It likes laughter.”

Elara blinked, trying to make sense of the undulating landscape. It looked like a million cotton balls had been tossed into the sky and then artfully sculpted into walls and pathways. But these weren't static formations. They drifted, billowed, and sometimes, with a soft *whoosh*, simply vanished, leaving gaping holes where a moment before there had been solid-seeming mist.
