Journey to the Sparkling Lake
Excited by the map, the Rat and the Mice embark on their adventure. They trek through the forest, following the clues, their anticipation growing as they near their destination.
The map, unfurled with a rustle that sounded like a whispered secret, lay between the Rat and the Mice. Its lines, drawn with what looked like berry juice and charcoal, were intricate and winding, a puzzle waiting to be solved. The Rat’s whiskers twitched with excitement, his small nose sniffing the parchment as if he could smell the adventure itself. “A secret lake!” he squeaked, his voice brimming with wonder. “Imagine what it looks like!”
One of the Mice, a little fellow with particularly bright eyes named Pip, bounced on his hind legs. “I bet it sparkles even more than the dew on a spiderweb in the morning sun!” he chirped. Another Mouse, a sturdier one called Barnaby, nodded in agreement. “And maybe there are special treats to eat by the water’s edge. Berries, perhaps, or juicy seeds!”
The Box, which had settled down contentedly after its grand revelation, gave a gentle creak. “The map is quite clear,” it rumbled, its voice a warm, woody sound. “You must follow the winding path, past the tall, whispering pines, and then turn when you see the mossy stone that looks like a sleeping badger. After that, it’s a straight line to the water.”
