Chapter 4
Echoes of the Past

A sudden shove nearly sent her tumbling against the carriage wall. A burly man, laden with sacks of grain, had barged past without a word. Eleanor steadied herself, her breath catching in her throat. This was so different from the quiet solitude of her study, where the atlas had been her only companion. Here, people jostled, shouted, and lived their lives with a boisterous energy that both intimidated and intrigued her.
