The air still thrummed with the residual screams from the Illusionist’s realm, a phantom chorus that clung to my armor like grave dust. Each breath I drew tasted of ash and regret, a familiar flavor now, as I stood on the precipice of what the Weaver called the ‘Heart of Suffering.’ The Wheel, that infernal contraption of my undoing, pulsed around me, its segments bleeding into one another, the infernal light warping and distorting reality. The prophecy, whispered by Elara’s fragmented essence, echoed in my mind: *“When the heart beats loudest, the brute shall rise, a final testament to the sins he defies.”*
And there he was. Grak. Not the hulking brute I’d battered and bruised in his own circle of torment, but something far worse. He was a silhouette against the swirling vortex of raw despair, his form coalescing from the very shadows that writhed in this abyssal core. Muscles bulged, not with flesh and blood, but with solidified agony, veins of molten hatred snaking across his skin. His eyes, once burning with a primal rage, were now twin wells of pure, unadulterated despair, reflecting the endless torment of this place. He was no longer just Grak, the Brute of Regret; he was Grak, the Heart of Suffering’s chosen champion.
“You,” his voice boomed, a guttural roar that shook the very foundations of this pocket dimension, “You dare trespass where only the damned truly belong?”
