Years later, Elara's child listens intently as the story unfolds. The necklace, worn smooth by time and touch, continues its sacred duty of connection.
The wood of the beads, once smooth and warm from Grandma Anya’s touch, now felt even more so beneath Elara’s own fingers. Years had spun by like threads on a loom, each one adding to the tapestry of her life, and now, here she sat, the familiar weight of the necklace resting in her palm. Beside her, nestled close, was a small, bright face, eyes wide with wonder. It was Elara’s child, and the time had come to share the story, the one that lived within these very beads.
"This necklace," Elara began, her voice soft, like the rustle of autumn leaves, "belonged to your great-grandmother, Grandma Anya. And before her, it belonged to her mother, and her mother before that." She gently lifted the necklace, letting the wooden beads clink softly against each other. Each one was a tiny story, a whispered memory.
The child leaned in, tracing the curve of a bead with a tiny finger. "It's so old, Mama."
