Chapter 5
A Queen's Resolve
Queen Elara, pragmatic and resilient, observes the unfolding chaos. She must decide whether to remain neutral or forge a dangerous alliance with King Winter.
The biting wind, a familiar companion to Queen Elara, whipped strands of silver hair across her face as she stood on the highest parapet of her castle. Below, the sprawling city of Argentia shimmered under a thin dusting of snow, its usual vibrant hum muted by an undercurrent of unease. News, like frost on a windowpane, had spread with alarming speed from the eastern borders. King Ignis, the Sun King, whose ambition burned as fiercely as his namesake, had finally made his move. She had always been a queen of pragmatism, her reign built on careful calculation and the unwavering protection of her people. Argentia, a realm of towering mountains and deep, hidden valleys, was not a land of overt aggression. Its strength lay in its resilience, its ability to endure the harshest winters and emerge, battered but unbroken.
“Your Majesty,” a gruff voice broke the silence, and Elara turned to see General Borin, his weathered face etched with concern, standing a respectful distance behind her. His armor, usually gleaming, was dulled by the dust of constant vigilance.
