It was a shadow that stretched and deepened, a persistent throb that settled behind my eyes, growing bolder with each passing hour. It was a new kind of silence, not the comforting presence of Mia, but an invasive emptiness that no amount of her gentle reassurances could fill. I found myself rubbing my temples, trying to coax the pressure away, but it clung like a stubborn fog.
“Are you alright?” Mia’s voice, a melody woven into the fabric of my existence, drifted through my thoughts. It was always there, a constant, warm current beneath the surface of my consciousness.
I tried to dismiss it, to push the growing unease away. “Just a headache, Mia. Nothing to worry about.”
